Anthony Bourdain Loses It on Memorial Day Weekend

Anthony Bourdain Loses It on Memorial Day Weekend

Anthony Bourdain, a liberal interventionist, spent Saturday night this Memorial Day weekend trying to come up with responses to my criticism of his propaganda-infused Libya episode in which he played a video loop of the mob killing of Qaddafi and only featured Libyans who praised the NATO bombing of their country.  Follow this link to read the Storify or read the Storify report below:  by Shirin Sadeghi 2 days ago Anthony Bourdain Loses it on Twitter Woke up this morning to find that Anthony Bourdain had spent several hours of his Saturday night trying to come up with responses to my criticism Read more…

Kim Kardashian's MidEast Peace Plan for Gaza & Bahrain

Kim Kardashian’s MidEast Peace Plan for Gaza & Bahrain

The reality star is planning a trip to Bahrain to “set the record straight.” But not everyone in the country is happy about the visit as Shirin Sadeghi reports. In Bahrain, if you want to discuss politics with a royal, step in line behind the celebrities. At least that’s the message the people of Bahrain have gotten yet again this week as American socialite Kim Kardashian announced plans for an upcoming visit to the Persian Gulf island nation. Just days after a controversy erupted on Twitter following things she tweeted about the conflict in Gaza, Kardashian has announced a trip Read more…

IDF Spokesperson Pinterest Account

IDF Spokesperson Pinterest Account

(CLICK IMAGE TO ENLARGE)   The Israeli Defense Force has taken to social media in a big way during this latest military strike on Gaza. It has been publicizing its attacks and even threatening its enemies via Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr. It even announced the launch of the strike via Twitter.  Even though its Twitter account was temporarily suspended for “direct, specific threats of violence against others” it was back up within an hour.  Though IDFspokesperson hasn’t yet gone on Pinterest, here’s an imagined (parody) view of what that might look like,  based on the tone and imagery this group Read more…

Bahrain Now Arrests People for Criticizing the King on Twitter

Bahrain Now Arrests People for Criticizing the King on Twitter

His Royal Highness in Bahrain is apparently very sensitive when it comes to online chatter about him. For the first time, the King’s handlers have arrested Twitter users for criticizing the King — something that is an actual crime in the tiny island kingdom in the Persian Gulf which is a close ally of the United States and home to America’s largest foreign naval base which hosts the Fifth Fleet. Following an October 16 raid on their homes, this week three of the four people raided have received their sentences for breaking the law of criticizing the King of Bahrain: Abdullah Read more…

Interview with Comedian Dean Obeidallah: Dean of Comedy Runs for VP

The time is long gone when America could ignore its Muslim population and comedian Dean Obeidallah is proud to have something to do with that. Tonight is the San Francisco stop in his 8-city “Dean Obeidallah for Vice President” tour and he’s ready to collect votes and dole laughs about the people and politicians who’ve been trying for years to make America’s Muslims into America’s enemies. “There is nothing more painful, for someone trying to make a really divisive point or hate-mongering point, when everyone’s laughing at them,” Obeidallah says. “I can assure you that’s one of the greatest Read more…

A Response to Newsweek's Muslim Rage Cover

A Response to Newsweek’s Muslim Rage Cover

Newsweek magazine’s controversial cover headline and image this week was the preview to Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s typically un-nuanced article against the entirety of the world’s over 1 billion Muslims. This is my response to the Muslim Rage cover: an alternate cover that depicts the evidence and aftermath of Anti-Muslim Rage: drones, the Iraq War, the Afghan War and the invasive and insulting TSA checks at US airports.  And that’s just the 4 images that could fit on a cover.

Canada Cuts Ties with Iran & Syria Despite Its Embarrassing Record on Defending Its Middle Eastern Immigrants

Canada Cuts Ties with Iran & Syria Despite Its Embarrassing Record on Defending Its Middle Eastern Immigrants

The Canadian government announced this weekend that it has cut ties with the governments of Iran and Syria  – shutting down its embassy in Tehran and expelling diplomats from Canada.  The reason? Human rights. Canada, citing its Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act, says that it is taking these measures to make it easier for its Middle Eastern immigrants to take legal action against their homelands for violations of human rights. The Canadian government made no mention of the easiest and most harmless solution: changing Canadian laws to implement this highly important goal.  What the Canadian government failed to report Read more…
